Made That Way

In Manhattan there’s an actor and he's practicing
His character is a bit of a pitiful thing
His thoughts are smoke / his emotions are fire
He's caught up in the rope of his twisted desire
He says I'm only human, what can I say?
He says “I was made that way”

His partner in crime is up half the night
Rehearsing her lines trying to get em just right
The actions repeat / the events reoccur
She screams at him / when he looks at her
She cries “I'm only human, what do you want me to say?
I was made that way, I was made that way”

Oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh, oh oh oh oh
Mmmm...mmmm...
Only human, so they say
I was made this way.

Now look at that world / up there on the stage
They created two lives out of out of words on a page
Same tools every night...a body a voice
He says “I’ll hope you'll forgive me,”
she says “I got no choice
I’m only human, all I can say
I was made that way
We were made that way”
